Commercial Sign & Lighting

One Contractor. Your Sign and the Electrical Behind It.

For more than 35 years, Commercial Signs & Lighting has helped Twin Cities businesses, dealerships, banks, and churches get noticed — with signs that are designed, built, wired, installed, and serviced by a single team.

That last part is what sets us apart. Most sign projects take two separate companies: one to build the sign, another to handle the electrical. We do both. When you work with us, there's one crew, one permit process, and one point of accountability from the first sketch to the moment your sign lights up.

Our story

We started with a simple idea: a sign is only as good as the work behind it. A beautiful sign that's wired poorly, sized wrong for the site, or stuck in a permit backlog isn't doing its job. So we built a company that could own the entire project — the fabrication, the lighting, the electrical, and the code and permitting that most sign shops hand off to someone else.

Three and a half decades later, that approach still guides everything we do. We're local, we answer our own phones, and we stand behind the work long after the install is finished.

What we do

We're a full-service sign and lighting contractor. Our work includes:

  • Electronic message centers (EMCs) — the programmable digital LED signs you control from your phone. This is our specialty, and it's one of the highest-return investments a local business can make.

  • Monument, pylon, and channel-letter signs — designed and built for your site, traffic, and local ordinance.

  • Commercial lighting — exterior, parking-lot, and building lighting, including energy-efficient LED upgrades.

  • Sign service and repair — because a dark or broken sign costs you customers.

Whatever the project, the electrical is handled in-house by people who do it every day — not subcontracted out and hoped for.

The Commercial Signs & Lighting difference

One roof, one process. Sign and electrical together means no finger-pointing, no scheduling gaps between trades, and no surprises when it's time to connect power.

We know the local rules. Sign ordinances — setbacks, brightness limits, EMC message-hold intervals — change from city to city across the metro. We handle the permit process so you don't have to decode a municipal code on your own.

Built for Minnesota. Our signs and lighting are specified to hold up to real Minnesota weather, and a bright, well-lit sign earns its keep here — especially in the months when it's dark by late afternoon.

35+ years of accountability. We're not going anywhere. When you need service down the road, the same local company that built your sign is the one that picks up the phone.

Businesses that trust us

Organizations across the north metro have counted on us for their signage and lighting, including Miller Chevrolet in Rogers, Pine River State Bank in Nowthen, Grace Fellowship in Brooklyn Park, Insurance Brokers of Minnesota in Andover, St. Stephen's in Anoka, and Jackey's in St. Paul.

Where we work

Based in Ramsey, Minnesota, we serve businesses, dealerships, banks, and churches throughout the Twin Cities metro and Anoka County.

Let's talk about your project

Whether you're planning a new digital message center, replacing an aging sign, or upgrading your lighting, we'd be glad to take a look and give you an honest assessment.
